Anasimyia

Three species seen, low-flying in marshes or at pond margins.
As with Helophilus and Parhelophilus, the eyes of males are not touching
so distinguishing the sexes is less straightforward.
Females of Anasimyia lineata often have grey markings on the abdomen,
rather than the orange colouring of the males.
Anasimyia contracta seen flying mostly May-June, A. lineata April-June.
